Nine municipal hospitals in Kaohsiung City held a medical seminar today at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) Kaohsiung Branch, focusing on the interdisciplinary integration of "medicine" and "technology," and toured the park’s medical equipment exhibition hall.

Currently, Kaohsiung City has nine municipal hospitals, which take turns hosting an annual medical seminar to improve the quality of medical services. This year, the event was hosted by Gangshan Show Chwan Hospital and was held at the bustling STSP Kaohsiung Branch, attracting over one hundred participants.

Gangshan Show Chwan Hospital Director, Dr. Zhao Zhaoqin, stated that this strategic seminar aims to promote the interdisciplinary integration of medicine and engineering research, enabling innovations and inventions in cutting-edge medical technology to offer more options and services for future healthcare needs.

Deputy Director Su Zhengang of the STSP Management Office noted that the Kaohsiung Branch, located in Luzhu, has a dedicated medical equipment zone. Last year, the output value reached over NT$700 billion, though biotech and medical sectors account for less than 1%. He emphasized that domestically produced medical equipment is comparable in quality to foreign products and encouraged clinical physicians to prefer local products. He also welcomed biotech and medical companies to set up factories and invest in the area.

Kangding Company Chairman Guo Yisong gave a speech titled "Technology and Innovative Medical Equipment," pointing out that per capita medical expenditure in Europe and the U.S. has been rising annually. Smart healthcare and robotics can save significant manpower on the medical frontlines and will play a crucial role in future health care.
